We provide professional daycare in a homely and safe environment. We offer both flexible and fixed care contracts at our daycare. Het Toddlers Huis has several locations in the city of Groningen, located both centrally and close to the Groningen beltway.
Toddlers Huis has two locations in Groningen. Moreover, our sister location Monkey Donky has four locations in the city of Groningen. With all these options, there is always a daycare near your work or home.
Our locations Friesestraatweg and Kraneweg offer daycare for children aged 3 months to 4 years. At Friesestraatweg there is also an after-school care facility for children up to the age of 13. At our location at Friesestraatweg, most children come from (the surroundings of) the districts Gravenburg, de Held and Reitdiep. This location is modern and cozy. It has a baby group, two toddler groups and an after-school program.
Our location at the Kraneweg is a small, cozy daycare that was completely renovated in the summer of 2018. The daycare is modernly furnished and includes a baby group and a toddler group.

Your child can safely explore, play and grow at Het Toddlers Huis. We take great care to provide the optimal nurturing environment by firstly ensuring safety, health and hygiene. The plentiful toys, furniture and the arrangement of the group spaces – everything is set up for your child to have fun growing up!
We continuously work to improve our daycare. Both current scientific insight and our ongoing practical experience provides an opportunity to develop our method and vision. This way we can keep providing the best for your child. This results in our pedagogical plan.
The central theme of our pedagogical plan is respect: working on a trusting relationship with the child based on a positive approach, affection and structure. Our staff members’ behavior plays a major role in instilling these values in children.
Another important aspect of our pedagogical plan is combining practical (MBO level), practical-theoretical (HBO level) and theoretical (University level) insights and staff at Het Toddlers Huis. This diversity of insights greatly enhances our ability to provide the best quality daycare for your child.
We fully understand that it isn’t always possible to determine beforehand on which days you require daycare. Especially if you work flexible hours.
That is why we offer both flexible and fixed contracts. Flexible contracts allow you to pick and choose particular (parts of the) day. We also offer a zero-hour contract in which you only pay the hours you actually end up using. Please keep in mind that flexible contracts are not available at our Kraneweg location, and availability at location Friesestraatweg is limited.
In the Netherlands, everybody who works or studies is eligible for childcare allowance. To receive this allowance, you must submit an application to the Tax Authorities. This needs to be done digitally or in written form by using an application form.
You need a DigiD account to apply via a digital application. You can request a DigiD account, if you do not have one yet, at www.digid.nl. After your request, you will receive an activation code at home within five working days. With this code you can activate your DigiD account at www.digid.nl. Once activated, you can apply for childcare allowance at www.toeslagen.nl.

At the Toddlers Huis or Monkey Donky you can always come for a tour without any obligations. We can imagine that you would like to know what kind of atmosphere and surroundings your child will be exposed to before you enroll your child(en). We happily provide you with a tour and tell you about our daycare.
Furthermore, we can tell you about how our daycare works, how we care for your child, the daily schedules, the sleeping facilities, where the children play and, if applicable, who picks your child up from school. Just ask, and we will answer any questions you might have.

Respect is the core of our pedagogical policy. Our staff works on building a relationship of trust with the children through a positive approach based on consistent behavior and respect.
Respect means accepting each other as we are. Our staff works to demonstrate this first and foremost through their own actions and behavior. What the children see plays a major role in their own development of respect towards themselves and others.
Our staff provides direction and sometimes correction. Always with care and respect.
We maintain contact both personally and through writing. Whenever you come to pick up or drop off your child, we have an opportunity to talk about how your child is doing. Good communication between our staff and you is the foundation of excellent childcare.

Our staff always looks out for your child. We look at what your child’s abilities and preferences are. Then, we encourage the child to explore, play and develop in accordance with their unique personality. Sometimes by complimenting them, sometimes a pat on the back. When children display mischievous behavior we show them the desired behaviour, always with care and respect.
Our qualified staff is first and foremost passionate about working with children. This means they work with the children by demonstrating affection and loving attention – showing a willingness to be there for the children. To be available. We aim to create a open and approachable attitude by providing a warm and safe environment. Our leading question is: ‘How can we help the child feel welcome?’
As any parent knows, structure is crucial in working with children. This provides the feeling of safety and routine that allows the child to freely explore, play and develop. We offer structure by working with a daily routine, setting coming and going routines, and by providing clear boundaries. Structure is essential to a warm and safe environment.
Het Toddlers Huis aims to provide you the best service tailored to your and your child’s needs. Together we set up a contract suitable to your needs, be it fixed or flexible.
We are open on working days from 07:00 AM to 06:00 or 06:30 PM. Het Toddlers Huis is closed on official holidays.
Admission of your child can often be arranged in days upon first visit. You are free to drop off and pick up your child at your time of convenience.
When your child is ill, we contact you whether pick-up is necessary. We are audited annually for safety and hygiëne by the municipal health authorities and the fire brigade.
